Did you know…

Charles Byrnes is certainly a trainer the bookmakers fear and justifiably so. He has shown time and time again to be an exceptional trainer with numerous Graded wins to his name. Horses such as Solwhit, Trifolium, Weapon’s Amnesty and Cailin Alainn are just some of his big race winners. Byrnes made the headlines at Roscommon on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016 when he saddled three gambled-on winners, War Anthem, Top Of The Town and Mr Smith. While the winners had starting prices of 6/1, 5/4 and 7/4 respectively, a treble at early prices would have paid 4,334/1. The gamble was reputed to have cost bookmakers a seven-figure sum but this was never verified.
